Investors invest on a project basis in individual battery storage projects (BESS), which are structured through separate project companies (SPV). Each project is clearly defined technically, economically and contractually and represents an independent investment opportunity.

The investment model is designed as a financing model. Investors provide capital, which is used to finance a specific battery storage project for the end customer. In return, investors receive a contractually defined interest rate or margin over an agreed term.

The investor is neither the operator nor the user of the battery storage. The end customer uses the BESS for self-consumption optimisation, peak shaving or other use cases. The investor assumes exclusively the financing role and does not participate in the operational use of the system.

NRG Solutions is responsible for technical implementation, ongoing operation and management of the battery storage systems. This is done via our own energy management system (EMS), which controls, monitors and optimises the storage. This ensures stable and traceable project performance.

Repayment and interest are based on the contractually defined cash flows of the respective project setup. These are primarily generated through the marketing and management of the battery storage on the market – particularly through ancillary services (SDL) and optimised trading and arbitrage strategies. Operational control and optimisation is carried out by NRG via our own EMS and the marketing structure of NRG Optimization.

We provide detailed project-related information after signing a confidentiality agreement (NDA). This includes technical specifications, profitability models, terms and the respective investment structure. The exchange is transparent and individually tailored to the needs of the investor.
